History of the Gaelic Kingdom of Mabruenia

Founding and Early Development (2023)

Mabruenia was established on January 12, 2023, though it did not formally declare full independence until February 5, 2023. The nation was inspired by a mock-government Discord community known as Imperium Discordiae (Imperium of Discord), which proposed the concept of claiming unoccupied islands in the Pacific Ocean.

Following a period of internal disruption, including the loss of Amara’s Discord account due to false reporting, the nation underwent reorganization. On February 5, 2023, Mabruenia re-emerged as the Second Republic, with Amara declaring the date as the official Independence Day.

Throughout the remainder of 2023, Mabruenia developed its foundational institutions, including the Constitution, governmental structure, economic framework, and national symbols. During this period, the Grand Assembly was established alongside several major laws.

Transition and Formation of the Monarchy (2023–2024)

By mid-2023, Mabruenia briefly transitioned into a constitutional monarchy for a period of two weeks, during which the House of Fleming was formed.

In September 2024, following a popular vote, the monarchy was officially re-established, transforming the nation into the Grand Duchy of Mabruenia.

During this time, Mabruenia expanded its foreign relations, most notably with the Free Kingdom of Nicaea. This relationship led to the creation of the Mabruenian-Nicene Commonwealth, modeled in part after historical dual monarchies such as the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

Reforms and Expansion (2025)

At the beginning of 2025, the monarchy enacted a series of Royal Decrees which included the dissolution of an inactive parliament and the formal denouncement of certain foreign governments as illegitimate.

In mid-2025, Royal Decree 2025:10 declared Mabruenia the legitimate cultural and dynastic successor to the Kingdom of Scotland, citing lineage from Clan Fleming. This decree redefined the nation as the Gaelic Kingdom of Mabruenia and formally established the Royal House of Fleming as a continuation of Scotland’s noble lineage.

In November 2025, a national vote resulted in the unification of the Lillian Republic and Mabruenia. The two governments merged, forming the United Kingdom of Lillo-Mabruenia. A new constitution was drafted on November 24, formalizing the union and restructuring the Grand Assembly.

Partition and Modern Era (2026–Present)

On March 29, 2026, the Crowned Province of Lillia was partitioned between the Kingdom of Novafides and Mabruenia, with each nation receiving 50% of the territory. West Lillia was annexed into Mabruenia, while East Lillia was incorporated into Novafides.

As a result of this partition, the United Kingdom of Lillo-Mabruenia ceased to exist, marking the beginning of the current political structure of Mabruenia. Mabruenia would obtain the Administrative Region of Highcrest on April 10th, 2026.
